Holiday of Love: Happy Tu b’Av

Happy Tu b’Av!  Tu” is an abbreviation for the number 15, and Av”is the current Jewish month.  This holiday is about  matchmaking, finding true love, and dancing in white.  So, “Happy 15th of Av!”

Note the full moon, which indicates the 15th of the Jewish month.

Not to be confused with Tish’ah b’Av, which is the 9th of Av, a Jewish day of mourning, in commemoration of bad events that happened on that date over the course of millennia, including the Biblical story of the spies (Numbers 13, 14), destruction of the Temple (twice), and the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto.

But that was six days ago.  Now we celebrate love.
